![]() It was easy to see the temp gauge not moving much. We had a bad winter up here 2 years ago and the car was an ice box! I think i had frost bite on my feet from the car being so cold. Since you are in FL, it is probably harder to tell if you have a bad thermostat. From all the posts I have read online it could be a number of things from oil in the cam sensor connectors to the timing chain stretching. I personally think that replacing the MAF would get rid of the error code permanently or at least until that MAF reached the end of its service life. Currently the car has 175k on it and with it like this I can still pass the state smog test. This usually occurs when the weather changes drastically (its Chicago after all) and it takes the car a minute to get the idle adjusted correctly. ![]() The check engine light comes on about once every three months now but goes out after 3 starts. My thermostat was also bad (stuck open) so I replaced that along with cleaning the MAF sensor. I can't say that I found the exact culprit. The air filter and fuel filter are new and all the services have been done. Overall the car seems to run well but the idle is sometimes not steady (rpm gauge fluctuates up and down). Is there another line under the intake? Does anyone have pictures or a diagram of the intake? The vacuum line running from the rear of the engine to the intake manifold and break booster looks good, I don't see any fraying of the rubber or cracking of the plastic. I am not sure what vacuum line was replaced in the recall and if it can possibly go bad again. I have been searching for information and found that there was a recall on a vacuum line but that service has already been preformed to my car. I did that but I am still seeing the CE light come on. I took it to the dealer to have the B service performed and they said the precat O2 sensor needed to be replaced. The check engine light come on about once every two weeks. My 2005 c230 Kompressor 4dr/6speed is throwing intermittent P0171 and P0172 codes.
